Velana International Airport Terminal 1 Welcomes HiSky

Velana International Airport (VIA)’s Terminal 1 now accommodates 38 airlines, following the inaugural flight of HiSky, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) confirmed.

A special ceremony was held at the airport to mark HiSky’s first arrival, with 222 passengers welcomed through cultural performances. The arriving passengers were greeted by Mr Ali Shakir, Group General Manager of Maldives Inflight Catering; Mr Ignaz Mansoor, Deputy Manager of Voyages Maldives; representatives from HiSky; and MACL Executive Committee members.
HiSky, a privately owned low-cost airline founded in 2021 by Romanian entrepreneurs and headquartered in Moldova, reflects the increasing demand for travel to the Maldives from diverse international destinations.
MACL stated that it aims to provide world-class service and state-of-the-art facilities for all airlines operating in the Maldives, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a premier travel destination.
