Close to MVR 4 Million Spent to Make And Install Signs on Male’ and Vilimale Roads

Male’ City Council awarded a project worth over MVR 3.9 million to Sasma Private limited for manufacturing and installing road signs in Vilimale and Male’ roads, the council’s procurement disclosures have revealed. 

The project was awarded to Sasma Private Limited on 22 December. According to the disclosure document for the period November-December 2025, the project was expected to be finished within 20 days. 

The disclosure further shows that the council awarded local broadcasting media, Raajje TV, a contract worth MVR 1.7 million for broadcasting and video recording services for the 1447 Quran and Madhaha Competition held last month. The council said the recordings took place over 17 days, from 7 to 13 December and from 14 to 23 December.

Speaking to MV+, an officer from the council’s procurement section said two media agencies submitted proposals for the project. Alongside Raajje TV, local media agency PR Network also bid for the contract. The council opened the bidding process on 6 November.

The second largest awards for that period were:

  • MVR 3.6 million to Veshi Pro for supplying pavement stones to repair roads in Malé, 
  • MVR 431,624.32 to Bigbest for procuring tyres for council vehicles
  • MVR 486,000 to Unica Private Limited to organise the council’s Women’s Development Committee fourth anniversary ceremony.

Under the Public Finance Regulation, Malé City Council and other government institutions must disclose details of procurement contracts awarded at values exceeding MVR 35,000. During the November–December period, the council awarded contracts above this threshold to 10 companies.
