ECM Receives 128 Complaints Over Voter List Ahead Of April Elections

The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has received 128 complaints concerning the voter list for the upcoming local council and women’s development committee elections scheduled for April.

According to the commission, 294,937 people are eligible to vote in the elections, comprising 144,527 women and 150,410 men. Most complaints received relate to deceased individuals still appearing on the list or to inaccuracies in personal information.

The ECM has opened a complaints process through its My Portal, with a deadline of 3:00 pm on 18 January for submissions. Complaints and corrections must be supported by official documents such as identity cards or other government-issued identification.

The voter list is accessible via the ECM website, the Government Gazette, and local council offices. Polling details can also be checked through SMS.
