The Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory for citizens planning to visit Bangladesh, ahead of the country’s parliamentary elections scheduled for 12 February.

The advisory states that Bangladesh will suspend on-arrival visa issuances from 15 January to 15 February as part of heightened security measures surrounding the elections.

Maldivian travellers intending to visit Bangladesh during this period are urged to obtain the required visa in advance through the High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Hulhumalé. The Ministry emphasised the importance of securing visas well ahead of travel to avoid delays or inconveniences.

For further information on visa requirements or other inquiries, travellers are advised to contact the High Commission by phone at 3320859 or by email at mission.male@mofa.gov.bd.
