Galolhu City Park has been redeveloped and reopened to the public, a decade after it was first closed off. The park was officially inaugurated by Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim.
The newly opened park features a badminton court, a three‑on‑three basketball court, exercise areas suitable for all age groups, and spaces for relaxation. It also includes a dedicated children’s play area and zones designed for community activities and multipurpose use.
The area had remained sealed with tin sheets for ten years before redevelopment work began on 8 December 2024. The project, funded by the city council at a cost of MVR 2.5 million, took eight months to complete.
The city council emphasised that the redevelopment aims to create comfortable public spaces that enhance the well-being of residents. Mayor Azim encouraged the public to help maintain the park’s cleanliness and appearance.
