Three additional suspects have been arrested in connection with a case involving the hacking of a man’s social media accounts and the theft of over MVR 279,600 from his company’s bank account.
Police confirmed that a total of ten individuals have now been arrested under court orders related to the investigation. The latest arrests include Munaz Jaufar, 24, from S. Hulhudhoo; Mohammed Naaish Nabeel, 24, from G.Dh. Gadhdhoo; and Hassan Viaam, 19, from S. Hithadhoo. Munaz has been remanded for 15 days, Naaish for seven days, and Viaam for ten days.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Ali, 42, who was previously arrested, has been remanded for 30 days following a second court appearance.
The complaint alleges that the victim’s social media accounts were compromised, which led to unauthorised withdrawals from his company’s bank account.
The operation, which began last Tuesday, involved the Police Gang Crime Department, Thinadhoo City Police, and Hithadhoo Police. The Police Anti-Scam Centre continues to investigate the case.
