Ibrahim Ziyath Appointed as MPL Deputy CEO

Former Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Ziyath has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).

MPL announced the appointment yesterday, confirming his addition to the company’s senior management team.

Ziyath previously served as the CEO of MTCC during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. He is also related to several prominent figures, including former Auditor General Hassan Ziyath and former Managing Director of MMPRC Abdulla Ziyath.

His appointment comes despite past corruption allegations linked to the recruitment of foreign workers for MTCC projects. In October 2021, the Anti-Corruption Commission forwarded a case to the Prosecutor General’s Office seeking charges against him in connection with the matter.
