Physiotherapy Services Launched at Kaafu Maafushi Hospital

Kaafu Maafushi Hospital has introduced physiotherapy services, providing residents with easier access to local treatment.

The service was inaugurated yesterday by Health Ministry State Minister Ahmed Gasim at a ceremony held at the hospital.

Maafushi Hospital stated that the new physiotherapy services will improve healthcare access for the island community. The Maafushi Island Council and the Women’s Development Committee also expressed their appreciation to the Health Ministry for introducing the service.

While specialist doctors are now available in many island health centres, physiotherapy services remain limited across several islands in the Maldives.

The Maafushi health facility, which serves a large number of patients, was upgraded from a health centre to a hospital in 2023, reflecting ongoing improvements in local healthcare infrastructure.
