Seven people have been provided with temporary shelter after a fire destroyed part of a house in Hulhumalé yesterday, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
The fire broke out at Lot 11395, leaving one room completely destroyed. Adjacent areas, including another room and the living room, were affected by heat and smoke damage.
The authority confirmed that the fire rendered one quarter of the house uninhabitable, while the remaining sections sustained varying degrees of damage.
Temporary shelter, along with food and clothing, has been arranged for the seven affected residents for a period of five days.
The incident follows a separate fire in a Hiyaa residential tower in Hulhumalé, which damaged sewerage and water systems serving 38 apartments.
