The foundation stone has been laid to mark the commencement of a project to build a hospital in R. Meedhoo.

The ceremony was attended by Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Ibrahim Nazeem, and Ahmed Zahir, who jointly officiated the event.

The Meedhoo hospital project was initially announced during the previous administration. In its final days, the plan to seek a contractor was withdrawn, and the project was instead awarded to the Road Development Corporation for MVR 135 million, with a completion period of 500 days.

No physical progress was made on the project before the administration left office.

Last year, the current government signed an agreement with the Road Development Corporation to proceed with the development of the hospital.

Nearly a year after the agreement was signed, the foundation stone has now been laid. No additional details regarding the scope or timeline of the project have been disclosed.
