The Maldives Zakat House has recorded its highest Fitr Zakat collection to date, exceeding MVR 13 million, and distributed MVR 6,000 to each person registered as poor or needy across the country.

This year’s distribution marks the largest per-person allocation ever through the national registry system, with 62 orphaned children among the beneficiaries. A total of MVR 13,896,000 was designated for distribution, reflecting both strong contributions and a growing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.

To facilitate donations, the Zakat House accepted Fitr Zakat through seven online platforms, a dedicated portal for cash contributions collected by island councils, and in the Greater Malé Area, via cash and cash cards at the Islamic Centre hall. Zakat was also collected and distributed in the form of grain.

The digital system allowed for daily monitoring of incoming funds, ensuring equitable and timely distribution to eligible recipients across the Maldives. Authorities said this approach improved transparency and efficiency, allowing communities nationwide to receive their share without delay.
