Maldivian Appoints MEGACAP as General Sales Agent in China

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has appointed MEGACAP Aviation Services Limited as its General Sales Agent in China, aiming to strengthen air travel connectivity with one of the country’s most important source markets.

The airline currently operates dedicated flights to China using wide-body A330-200 aircraft, a service that began in January 2025 and has already contributed to a noticeable increase in Chinese tourist arrivals.

The appointment of MEGACAP reflects Maldivian’s strategic focus on the Chinese market, with the airline seeking to establish stronger commercial ties and create greater opportunities for Chinese travellers to visit the Maldives.

Through the partnership, Maldivian expects to leverage MEGACAP’s industry expertise to build relationships with key stakeholders across China’s tourism sector, enhancing the airline’s brand presence and supporting sustained growth in the market.

China remains a vital contributor to Maldivian tourism, with 329,110 Chinese visitors recorded last year, marking a 25 percent increase from the previous year. As of mid-March, 86,464 tourists from China have arrived, representing a 15.6 percent share of the total visitor market.
