According to the President’s Office, expanding banking services across the Maldives remains a key government priority. As part of this policy, the administration initiated a project to establish ATM services on every inhabited island, aimed at improving access to essential banking.

The initiative, titled ‘Dhivehinge Bank Mulhi Raajje Ah’ (Maldivian Bank for the entire nation), was completed in October 2025. The nine-month project ensured that each inhabited island is equipped with at least one self-service banking unit.

With the decentralisation of these services, residents are now able to deposit, withdraw and transfer funds, as well as make credit card and loan payments, directly from their home islands.
