Maldivian and SriLankan Airlines have announced a new strategic partnership aimed at strengthening regional air connectivity and expanding access to global travel networks.

The agreement is set to enhance connectivity between the Maldives and a wider international network by integrating the route maps of both carriers. SriLankan Airlines, a member of the Oneworld alliance, will play a key role in linking passengers to destinations across its global network.

Under the partnership, an increased number of international travellers arriving through SriLankan Airlines will be connected to Maldivian’s domestic network. This will enable passengers travelling via Colombo to continue their journeys from Malé to 17 domestic destinations across the Maldives.

The initiative is expected to streamline travel for visitors from key global markets, offering more efficient access to the Maldives’ atolls through a single transit point in Colombo. At the same time, Maldivian citizens will gain improved access to international destinations through SriLankan Airlines’ network and its Oneworld partners.

Managing Director of Maldivian, Ibrahim Iyas, highlighted the partnership as part of ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility to the Maldives and improve connectivity beyond Malé to the atolls.

The collaboration reflects a shared focus by both airlines on strengthening regional cooperation, expanding network integration, and improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
