The Ministry of Higher Education has warned students and the public to exercise caution regarding advertisements promoting an unregistered institution operating under the name SAS Medical College.

The ministry stated that it had observed ongoing efforts to recruit students through advertisements issued under this name. However, it confirmed that the institution is not registered with the ministry under the Higher Education and Training Act.

According to the ministry, operating an educational institution in the Maldives under the title of a college without officially holding college status constitutes an offence under Article 62 of the Act. It further noted that Section 64 makes it unlawful for any individual or entity to advertise themselves as a university, college, or institute without being registered as a higher education provider.

The ministry also indicated that the institution in question is promoting itself in a misleading manner, and urged students and the wider public to remain vigilant when considering such offers.
