Woman Arrested in Hulhumalé Drug Operation

A 22-year-old woman has been arrested from a Hiyaa flat in Hulhumalé Phase II after police recovered more than 216 grams of suspected drugs during a joint operation.

The suspect was identified by the Maldives Police Service as Fatimath Shaaha Ibrahim, of G. Nashidvilla, Malé City. She has been remanded in custody for 15 days.

Police said the arrest was made on Monday during a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence officers at a Hiyaa flat in Hulhumalé Phase II.

According to police, officers recovered 216.12 grams of suspected drugs during the operation.

Fatimath Shaaha Ibrahim has been charged with possession, use and trafficking of drugs.

Police said further investigations into the case are ongoing.

Under Article 105 of the Narcotics Act, possession of more than 30 grams of drugs, as prescribed under the law, is classified as drug trafficking.
