Maldives and Australia Discuss Expanding Trade and Bilateral Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam has met with Australia’s Special Envoy for the Indian Ocean, Tim Watts, to discuss strengthening trade cooperation and expanding bilateral relations between the Maldives and Australia.
The meeting took place during Watts’ visit to the Maldives as a special guest of the government for the country’s 61st Independence Day celebrations.
The two sides discussed ways to further enhance the longstanding partnership between the Maldives and Australia, focusing on cooperation in maritime security, climate resilience, education, trade and tourism.
During the meeting, Minister Iruthisham expressed appreciation for Australia’s continued support and assistance to the Maldives. She also reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to advancing shared priorities and further strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
