Man Remanded for 15 Days Following Suspected Drug Arrest in Malé

A 26-year-old man has been remanded for 15 days after police arrested him in Malé on suspicion of possessing drugs.

Police identified the suspect as Rashid Abdul Majeed, 26, of Udhares House, Th. Dhiyamigili.

According to police, officers from the Gang Crime Suppression Unit stopped and searched Majeed while conducting patrols in Malé on the night of July 30, 2026.

Officers allegedly found a juice packet bag containing a substance suspected to be narcotics during the search.

Majeed was subsequently taken before the court for a remand hearing, where the court ordered him to remain in custody for 15 days.

Police said the investigation into the case is ongoing.
