MACL Conducts Communicable Disease Emergency Exercise at Velana Airport

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), in collaboration with the Health Protection Agency (HPA), conducted a partial emergency exercise simulating a communicable disease incident at Velana International Airport on Thursday.

According to MACL, the exercise tested the airport’s preparedness and coordination among relevant agencies in responding to a potential communicable disease case occurring during a flight.

BEOND Airline participated as the partner airline, supporting the emergency response simulation and helping create a realistic scenario for participating teams to assess existing procedures and response arrangements.

MACL said the exercise was completed without disrupting airport operations or scheduled flights.

The company said it regularly conducts emergency exercises to strengthen preparedness, improve coordination between relevant agencies and ensure Velana International Airport can respond effectively to different emergency situations.
