Police Arrest Four in Two Drug Operations in Kulhudhuffushi

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested four people in two separate drug operations conducted jointly by Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Kulhudhuffushi Police.

In the first operation, conducted on Thursday, August 6, police arrested Mohamed Umeen, 19, from Fuvahmulah City, and Aishath Ali, 30, from Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Kumundhoo, on suspicion of possessing, selling and trafficking drugs.

Police stopped and searched the pair at the Kulhudhuffushi RTL Ferry Terminal and seized 27 cellophane packets containing suspected illegal drugs, with a provisional weight of 7.59 grams.

Following a remand hearing, the court ordered Umeen to be remanded for 15 days and Ali for seven days.

In the second operation, conducted on August 5, police arrested Hussain Naim, 44, and Abdul Rahman Mohamed, 45, both from Kulhudhufushi City, on suspicion of drug use, possession, sale and trafficking.

The two men were stopped and searched near the Kulhudhuffushi harbour area, where police found 30 cellophane packets containing suspected illegal substances weighing a provisional 9.71 grams.

The court ordered both men to be remanded for five days following their court appearance.

Police said investigations into both cases are ongoing.
