Maldives Inaugurates World Bank-Funded Career Portal for Local Jobseekers

The Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, officially inaugurated the “My Career Portal” today, launching a unified platform designed to centralise employment opportunities, recruitment activities, and professional guidance across the Maldives.

Developed by the National Career Service (NCS), the portal received financial backing through the World Bank-supported Sustainable Employment and Entrepreneurship Development Project (SAILS). The initiative aims to connect jobseekers, local employers, and career advisors on a single digital network to strengthen the national labour market and streamline recruitment processes.

In addition to hosting job listings, the platform provides tailored career development tools. Jobseekers can connect directly with qualified counsellors to identify specific goals and map out long-term career strategies. The platform also enables candidates to establish structured roadmaps that outline their academic qualifications, vocational training, and work history, highlighting existing expertise alongside areas requiring further development.

To accelerate the recruitment process, the portal automatically matches advertised vacancies with individual user skill profiles.

Ministry officials confirmed that the launch aligns with government policy prioritizing Maldivians within the local workforce. The rollout forms part of President Muizzu’s wider strategy under the Maldives 2.0 agenda to expand opportunities and build a highly skilled national workforce.
