Applications Open for Third Marine Hatchery Skills Development Programme
The Marine Hatchery Skills Development Programme is jointly conducted by the Ministry and the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), in collaboration with the World Bank-assisted TRANSFORM Project.
The Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources has opened applications for the third batch of its Marine Hatchery Skills Development Programme, offering technical training in mariculture to 15 participants.
The 14-day programme is jointly conducted by the Ministry and the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI), in collaboration with the World Bank-assisted TRANSFORM Project.

The basic mariculture course will be held at the K. Maniyafushi Research and Training Facility from October 10 to 21.
Training will cover aquaculture systems, live feed culture, and the spawning and rearing of groupers, sea cucumbers and Maldivian clownfish. Participants will also receive training on pearl oyster culture, seaweed farming, disease identification and prevention, and environmental protection in mariculture.
Applicants must submit the designated application form along with a copy of their national identity card to MMRI by 2:00 pm on September 17. Applications can also be submitted via email to info@mmri.gov.mv.
The Ministry said applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis if the number of applications exceeds the 15 available places.
Accommodation will be provided at the K. Maniyafushi Research and Training Facility for the duration of the programme.
