The Bank of Maldives (BML) has provided financial support to the Maldivian Nurses Association (MNA) to launch a targeted mental health rehabilitation initiative in Hulhumalé Phase 2.
Financed through the institution’s Bank Fund, the initiative, titled Zaithoon, delivers direct support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges alongside their families. The programme equips participants with life skills and coping strategies designed to assist personal rehabilitation and facilitate reintegration into the community.
Through Zaithoon, the MNA has conducted training sessions, taught daily management techniques for healthy living, and hosted community awareness events. To date, the project has reached over 100 residents in the Hulhumalé district.
Organisers designed the multi-tiered initiative to reduce stigma and negative public perceptions surrounding mental illness across the region.
According to BML, funding for the scheme aligns with the bank’s broader corporate social responsibility objectives, which focus on supporting sustainable community-based projects across the Maldives.
