Electricity services in Kulhudhuffushi City have been transferred to STELCO as part of the government’s restructuring of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), which will see services previously provided by FENAKA Corporation brought under STELCO.

STELCO officially launched its electricity services in the city today with a flag-raising ceremony. Managing Director Dr Ali Azwar raised the national flag, while Deputy Managing Director Aishath Muzna raised the STELCO flag.

Speaking at the ceremony, Azwar described President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s decision to transfer FENAKA’s services to STELCO as a decisive step towards improving utility services across the Maldives. He also expressed gratitude to the President for the decision.

The government’s restructuring plan includes the dissolution of FENAKA Corporation and the Road Development Corporation (RDC). Under the plan, FENAKA’s services are to be transferred to STELCO, while RDC’s operations are to be brought under the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The transfer of electricity services began in Addu City, where STELCO took over operations previously managed by FENAKA.
