In addition to piling, reinforcement steel fixing for the columns is currently underway. MTCC expects to commence concrete casting for the jetties within the coming week.
Valued at MVR 18.98 million, the project encompasses the construction of three jetties measuring 25 metres in length and 6 metres in width, alongside three jetties measuring 15 metres in length and 6 metres in width.
MTCC highlighted that the completion of the project will offer significant convenience to the public and commuters using the harbor by substantially easing maritime congestion.
The company noted that the new infrastructure will eliminate the hazards and physical strain of passengers having to cross over moored speedboats to reach outer vessels.
The company added that the finger jetties will provide enhanced safety and ease of access for children, senior citizens, and passengers carrying heavy luggage.
Furthermore, the upgraded harbor layout will expand overall spatial capacity, enabling multiple vessels to dock simultaneously.
