Tiny Hearts of Maldives has launched a digital exercise initiative featuring 10 exercise videos aimed at promoting physical activity and heart-healthy lifestyles among people of different ages and physical abilities.

The Heart Healthy Raajje programme was launched by the NGO’s founder, Hismath Faiz, on Thursday during the Health Expo, held until today.

Guided by the Maldives Physical Activity Guidelines 2022, the initiative aims to make exercise more accessible and practical while encouraging regular physical activity across different stages of life.

The 10 videos cater to different age groups and mobility levels, including classroom exercises for children, routines for pregnant women, assisted movements for babies under one year, and exercises for people who prefer or need to exercise while lying down. The programme also includes routines for adults and older people.

The videos will be available free of charge through a dedicated Heart Healthy Raajje Instagram page and the Tiny Hearts of Maldives website. Downloadable versions will also be provided for distribution through Viber, WhatsApp and community networks.

Tiny Hearts said the videos would form the foundation of a digital resource hub, which it plans to expand with additional exercise routines and heart health information.

The initiative aims to address sedentary lifestyles and support the Maldives’ national efforts to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs), in line with the National NCD Action Plan.
