The scheduled hearing for the charges against former President Abdullah Yameen, Kurik Riza, and two companies, related to alleged bribery in a lease transaction, has been canceled due to Kurik Riza’s being sick.
The hearings were originally planned to take place before the Eid holidays but were called off after the court received notification of defendant Kurik Riza’s illness.
The hearing, initially slated for 09:00 am on Sunday, could not proceed due to the ill health of Kurik Riza. The Criminal Court has provided documentation confirming Kurik Riza’s medical condition.
At present, the prosecution is in the process of presenting evidence in the case. During the previous hearing, a digital evidence examiner from the Digital Evidence Laboratory of the Police Service testified, and a fingerprint analysis report was submitted as written evidence.
The case is being presided over by Judge Ali Nadeem in the Criminal Court.
