President and First Lady Attends Flag Ceremony to Commemorate Independence Day

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed attended the flag ceremony at Republic Square this morning to commemorate the 58th anniversary of Maldives’ independence.

The ceremony commenced at 6 a.m. and was attended by Cabinet Ministers, distinguished guests, and high-ranking officials from government offices and institutions.
Upon arrival at the Republic Square, the President and First Lady were welcomed by the Minister of Defense, Uza Mariya Ahmed Didi, and the Minister of Home Affairs, Sheikh Imran Abdulla. A special prayer was recited at the ceremony by Sheikh Azim Khalid.
Vice President Faisal Naseem also attended a flag ceremony held in Addu City today.

At the ceremony, Vice President Faisal Naseem was joined by Ali Nizar, Mayor of Addu City Council, other members of the City Council, and senior officials from government offices and institutions in the city.
The Maldives celebrates its Independence Day annually on July 26th.
