Former President Yameen’s Mother Passes Away

Fatimath Hassan, the mother of former President Abdullah Yameen and stepmother of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, has passed away today in Sri Lanka. 

She was 86 years old and had been battling a prolonged illness.

Yameen is currently serving an 11-year prison sentence following his conviction on corruption charges related to bribery and money laundering convictions.
