In a momentous development, the Fertility Support Community (FSC) recently conducted a special ceremony yesterday to deliver its IVF fund to five couples.

Launched by the association on November 2 last year, the IVF fund is aimed at providing complimentary IVF treatment to Maldivian couples facing financial difficulties and unable to access such procedures.

This annual initiative opens to the public, and the selection process involves thorough evaluation of applicants, with the funds granted to the candidate with the highest score who meets the eligibility criteria.

Originally conceived to support one couple, the fund’s reach expanded this year due to generous contributions from Yaami Fertility and IVF Center in India and Astar Medcity. As a result, an additional four couples were able to benefit from IVF treatments this year, with the total cost amounting closer to USD 15,000 for the five IVF procedures.

FSC expresses sincere gratitude to all those who generously contributed to the IVF Fund, enabling multiple couples to embark on their journey towards parenthood.

The recipients of the IVF fund had an average marriage duration of 17 years and had faced a 15-year struggle to conceive a child. The IVF fund’s assistance brought a glimmer of hope to these couples who had previously encountered financial obstacles in accessing IVF treatments.

At the handover ceremony, a formal agreement was signed between the beneficiaries and the association. According to this agreement, the IVF procedures for the selected couples will commence within the coming year.

Registered since January 27, 2021, the FSC is dedicated to providing accurate health information to the public and raising awareness about reproductive health. Moreover, the association diligently extends support and encouragement to individuals grappling with fertility challenges through various means.

Currently boasting a membership of over 400, the FSC continues to positively impact the lives of those seeking assistance in their pursuit of parenthood.
