President Inaugurates Development Projects in Shaviyani Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the completion of several developmental projects yesterday in Shaviyani atoll, which included football ground and FENAKA Office on Milandhoo, new building for Narudhoo School, the extension building for the healthcare centre, and the new FENAKA powerhouse on Narudhoo, completion of harbour upgrading projects on Feevah and Feydhoo and FENAKA office and powerhouse on Goidhoo Island and the completion of the water supply project on Kanditheemu.

Football ground and FENAKA Office on Sh. Milandhoo 

Solih inaugurated the completion of the newly developed football ground and FENAKA Office on Milandhoo Island in the North Miladhunmadulu Atoll. These project completions were part of President Solih’s ongoing visit to Shaviyani Atoll.

The football stadium on Milandhoo Island has been upgraded to meet modern specifications, providing players and spectators with modern amenities. These new developments are part of an ongoing effort to enhance sporting infrastructure nationwide.

The newly developed three-story FENAKA Office was designed with modern features to accommodate 54 staff members. These initiatives are part of the administration’s commitment to addressing island residents’ challenges.

New school building, health centre extension, and FENAKA powerhouse on Sh. Narudhoo

Solih inaugurated the completion of the three-story new building for Narudhoo School, the extension building for the healthcare centre, and the new FENAKA powerhouse on Narudhoo Island in Shaviyani Atoll. These projects were inaugurated during President Solih’s ongoing visit to Shaviyani Atoll.

After its inauguration, President Solih toured the three-story new building for Narudhoo School. The building features six classrooms, a staff room, a health room, and a computer laboratory. The new building will allow Narudhoo School to resolve space constraints and transition to single-session schooling.

President Solih also visited and toured the health centre extension building on Narudhoo Island after its inauguration. The new wing includes an administrative space for managing healthcare staff, a public health unit offering preventive and promotive health services, a counselling room, a medical store ensuring the availability of essential medicines and supplies, and a general store.

The powerhouse built on Narudhoo Island can accommodate 40 staff members and has modern facilities. The facility is strategically located away from residential areas and has a power generation capacity of 628 Kilowatts. The old powerhouse was built in the centre of the residential neighbourhood 31 years ago. These initiatives are part of the administration’s commitment to addressing island residents’ challenges.

Under President Solih’s leadership, the administration has made significant progress towards achieving equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes improving citizens’ quality of life and empowering them to lead dignified lives. President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services during his island visits.

The completion of harbour upgrading projects on Sh. Feevah and Feydhoo

Solih inaugurated the completion of harbour upgrading projects on Feevah and Feydhoo Islands in Shaviyani Atoll on Tuesday. These projects were inaugurated during President Solih’s ongoing visit to Shaviyani Atoll.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was contracted to carry out the harbour upgrading projects. The projects included a range of improvements such as harbour basin deepening, seawall development, installation of revetments, development of quay walls, pavement, and port lighting.

Under the guidance of President Solih, the administration has made significant progress towards achieving equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. By enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives, the administration is laying the foundation for a brighter future for all.

FENAKA office and powerhouse on Sh. Goidhoo Island and water supply network on Sh. Kanditheemu

Solih inaugurated the FENAKA office and powerhouse on Goidhoo Island and the completion of the water supply project on Kanditheemu Island in Shaviyani Atoll. The completion of these projects was inaugurated as part of President Solih’s ongoing visit to the atoll.

The new powerhouse and office on Goidhoo Island has modern facilities and can accommodate up to 10 staff members. Strategically located away from residential areas, the facility houses four generator sets with a combined power generation capacity of 648 Kilowatts. The President also inaugurated the Goidhoo electricity network. This initiative replaces the island’s old powerhouse, built in the centre of a residential neighbourhood 18 years ago, and is part of the administration’s commitment to addressing the challenges island residents face.

The government-funded water supply network was constructed by a joint venture between Mohan Mutha Exports Pvt. Ltd. and Point Three Pvt. Ltd. Final preparations for the water network’s commissioning are underway.
