Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Vice-President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef (Sembe) are underway, with plans in motion to accommodate 1,000 members of the public.
As conveyed by Transitional Spokesperson Mohamed Firuzul in a news conference by the President-elect’s office, the ceremony is scheduled to take place at Republic Square on the 17th of the coming month.
While a total of 3,500 individuals have been invited to the forthcoming event, plans are being finalised to extend invitations to 1,000 members of the public.
Contingency plans are also in place in the event of adverse weather conditions, with arrangements made to shift the ceremony to the Parliament premises if necessary.
The responsibility for orchestrating this event has been entrusted to the Sifainge Wellfare Company (SIWEC), which has been allocated a budget of MVR 22.9 million for the planning and execution of the ceremony.
Presently, SIWEC is in the process of closing Republic Square and making necessary arrangements for the impending ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony, marking the induction of President-elect Muizzu and Vice-President-elect Sembe, is under the coordination of the Office of the President-elect.
