First Lady Sajidha Mohamed accompanied the President to the function.

In his remarks, Muizzu stated that a Fisheries College would be established in collaboration with the Maldives National University (MNU). Administrative efforts to realise the plan are in motion as part of the Administration’s ‘Hafuthaa 14’ roadmap.

Speaking on efforts aimed at the progress of the fisheries sector, Muizzu announced a special training programme to ensure that every fishing vessel has at least one crew member certified as a “rescue diver.” The President emphasised the Administration’s Manifesto’s high priority for fishermen.

Muizzu also revealed plans to create a dedicated agency to advertise and promote fish products to foreign markets under a distinctive Maldivian brand. He outlined the ongoing and future initiatives to enhance fishermen’s welfare and prosperity.

At the ceremony, Muizzu presented 19 awards to the deserving recipients of the Fishermen’s Day prizes.
