The Ministry of Tourism has introduced the “Addu Asseyri Tourism Development Plan”.

The “Addu Asseyri Tourism Development Plan” was unveiled by Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal and Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar as a key component of the government’s 100-day agenda.

Developed in collaboration with CDC Consulting, the plan delineates a roadmap for advancing tourism in Addu City over the forthcoming five years.

Central to the plan is the ambition to expand accommodation capacity in Addu City by developing 6,000 beds, catering to the burgeoning tourism sector. Concurrently, the scheme aims to generate 10,000 employment opportunities, fostering economic prosperity and bolstering the local workforce. Beyond the realms of tourism, the plan encompasses measures to broaden economic ventures within the region.

The blueprint outlines various specific endeavours, including the establishment of a cultural enclave, the formation of a wellness precinct, and the demarcation of protected zones within Addu City.

Moreover, it advocates for the inception of a hospitality academy, underlining the significance of nurturing skills and knowledge within the tourism industry.
