Maldives to Participate in the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheryna Abdul Samad, has embarked on a journey to Geneva, Switzerland, marking her attendance at the High-level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council, slated to convene from 26th February to 1st March 2024.
State Minister Sheryna’s agenda encompasses the delivery of the country’s statement at the High-level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council. Additionally, she is scheduled to engage in discussions with high-ranking officials from other Member States and the UN system. Furthermore, she will actively participate in side events convened on the sidelines of the ongoing Session.
The Maldives currently holds the position of being a member of the Human Rights Council from 2023 to 2025. This marks the third term the Maldives has served on the Human Rights Council.
