MP Ghafoor cited the parliamentary rules, which stipulate a minimum quorum necessary for conducting a session. With only 11 members present at the time, well below the required threshold, MP Ghafoor decided to delay proceedings in the hope of achieving a quorum.

However, as the clock struck 9:30 am, it became apparent that the necessary quorum of 22 members had not been met. Addressing the assembly, MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa adjourned the session for the day. He assured attendees that a future date would be scheduled for the resumption of parliamentary activities.

Among the key items on today’s agenda was the debate on a resolution proposed by North Galolhu MP Eva Abdulla. The resolution called for the government to bolster the nation’s foreign policy, emphasising the need for sustainability and coherence in diplomatic efforts.

Additionally, the session was slated to include discussions on an amendment bill concerning land matters, introduced by Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir.
