The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a statement highlighting March to April as the warmest period across the Maldives.
During this time, winds tend to weaken significantly, contributing to clear skies and stagnant high humidity levels. These conditions exacerbate the warm air temperatures, resulting in what is commonly referred to as the “feel like temperature.”
Furthermore, with this year being classified as an El Niño year, the World Meteorological Organization has issued a cautionary note, suggesting that temperatures are anticipated to remain above normal levels.
To keep the public informed, the Maldives Meteorological Service regularly updates air temperature and “feels like” temperature readings from five meteorological stations. These updates are provided daily at 1100, 1400, and 1700 hours via the MMS community Viber group.
Typically, the maximum temperature of the day is observed around 1400 hours, according to the service’s observations.
