The Ministry of Education has announced the rescheduling of final exams for seventh, eighth, and ninth graders, citing a clash with the upcoming parliamentary election dates.

Originally planned to commence on April 16th, the exams will now take place between March 26th and April 25th on working days, as outlined in the academic calendar for the current academic year.

In a circular issued on Thursday, the Ministry stated that the decision to bring forward the exams was necessary due to the parliamentary election scheduled for April 21st. This adjustment aims to avoid any disruptions caused by the overlap of exam dates with the electoral process.

Additionally, the circular highlighted that schools intending to conduct exams on April 20th must engage in discussions with the designated focal point for their institution before finalizing their scheduling decisions. It’s noteworthy that some exam days fall within the period of Ramadan.

The academic calendar for the 2023/2024 school year, initially indicating June 13th as the last day of the second term, also specified the commencement of the subsequent academic year on July 31st. However, in light of the current administration’s decision to postpone the start of the academic year to January, the beginning of the next academic year has been rescheduled to May 26th.

This adjustment reflects the Ministry’s efforts to streamline the academic calendar amid external factors, ensuring minimal disruption to students’ educational routines.
