President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that the ongoing installation of new lifts at Hiyaa towers in Hulhumale’ Phase II will incorporate lifts capable of accommodating stretchers for sick patients.

The assurance came in response to an inquiry from Mohamed Labeeb of Kairuge, GDh. Gadhdhoo, during the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ series, a platform facilitating direct interaction between the public and the President.

Muizzu affirmed that the new lifts will address concerns regarding the transportation of sick patients within Hiyaa towers. He stated, “The lifts being installed now include lifts that can accommodate stretchers. Henceforth, at the completion of the lift installation projects, these concerns raised will be resolved.”

The contract for the installation of the lifts at Hiyaa towers was awarded to China’s Shenyang Yuanda Intellectual Group on February 14th. As part of the agreement with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), two additional lifts will be installed in each tower, totaling 32 lifts across 16 towers.

These lifts will comprise both standard lifts for general use and lifts specifically designed to accommodate stretchers for sick patients. Physical work on the project has already commenced, with an anticipated completion timeframe of one year.

The installation of additional lifts at Hiyaa towers fulfills an electoral promise made by President Muizzu.
