Maldives Zakat House Provides Over MVR 700,000 in Aid

The Maldives Zakat House disbursed over MVR 700,000 in aid during the previous month, as revealed by records.

According to the institution’s report, a total of MVR 740,805.79 was allocated to assist 69 individuals grappling with poverty and destitution, enabling them to access essential medical treatment.

This assistance encompassed:

  • MVR 245,948.50 directed towards cancer treatment
  • MVR 16,962 designated for heart disease treatment
  • MVR 76,329 allocated for transplants
  • MVR 16,962 allocated for brain surgery
  • MVR 473,746 covering miscellaneous expenses

The miscellaneous expenses comprised MVR 374,950.28 expended on conducting religious programs, MVR 192,432.81 utilised for compensating administrative personnel, and an additional MVR 93,761.61 attributed to various events and seminars.

Furthermore, the Zakat House disbursed MVR 12,750 in emergency aid.

Established in December 2023, the Zakat House is tasked with reinforcing the Maldivian zakat system and undertaking all necessary measures to augment the Zakat Fund through investments in Sharia-compliant ventures, thereby maximising benefits for recipients.
