Foreign Minister Offers Condolences to Russia Amid Concert Hall Terror Attack

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer, has extended condolences to Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, following the terrorist attack at a concert venue near Moscow.

The assault, which occurred at the Crocus City Concert Hall on March 22, marks one of the deadliest attacks in Russia since the Beslan school siege twenty years ago. The incident resulted in significant loss of life and numerous injuries, drawing condemnation from the global community. According to Russia’s State Investigative Committee, the attack claimed the lives of 133 individuals.

In his message to Minister Lavrov, Minister Zameer denounced the cowardly act of terrorism on behalf of the Maldivian government. He expressed solidarity with the people of Russia during this period of mourning and distress.

The statement reiterated the Maldives’ strong condemnation of the terrorist attack and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the victims’ families. Minister Zameer also wished a swift recovery to those injured in the attack, emphasizing the support of the Maldivian government and its people for Russia during this challenging time.

In response to the assault, Russia announced the apprehension of all four suspected gunmen involved in the shooting massacre at the concert hall. President Vladimir Putin vowed to pursue and prosecute those responsible for the attack, disclosing that a total of 11 individuals, including the gunmen, had been detained.
