STELCO Selects Employees for Hajj and Umrah Trips

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) awarded six employees with Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage trips at a special ceremony held on Thursday night. With over 300 applications, the winning employees were selected via a lucky draw.
A total of 116 employees applied for the Hajj pilgrimage, while 263 employees applied for the Umrah pilgrimage. Out of these, 98 employees were deemed eligible for Hajj pilgrimage, and 254 were eligible for Umrah pilgrimage.
Under the participation criteria, Hajj opportunities are offered to those with over 15 years of service and Umrah opportunities to those with more than five years of service.
In a departure from its previous practice of sending one male and one female employee annually, the company has chosen to send two male and one female employees for both Hajj and Umrah this year.
The winners of the Hajj pilgrimage were:
– Abdullah Amir, Hulhumale’ Power Station
– Mohammed Adil, Kaashidhoo Power Station
– Aishath Shizna, Villigili Power Station
The winners of the Umrah pilgrimage were:
– Azim Adam, ADh. Dhangethi Power Station
– Mohammed Arif, Renewable Energy Department
– Khadija Ifsha, Finance and Accounts Department
The spiritual significance of these journeys was underscored by Sheikh Azim Khalid, who imparted religious guidance to the employees during the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, STELCO’s Deputy Managing Director, Abdulla Nazir, expressed pride in the company’s 75th anniversary and underscored the importance of recognising employee contributions.
