Minister Unveils Plan for Four Synthetic Tracks in Maldives

Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu has announced the commencement of the development of four synthetic tracks in the Maldives.
His disclosure came during his participation in the ceremony honouring the achievements of Marathon Runners Maldives athletes, who recently competed in the Runtalya Marathon.
The Marathon Runners Maldives team secured the second position in the competition, with athlete Yusuf Ibrahim notably breaking the national record for the full marathon, showcasing an exceptional performance.
During his address at the ceremony, the Minister underscored the importance of bolstering resources to compete on a global scale. He reiterated the government’s commitment to track maintenance and highlighted the concurrent progress on the construction of four synthetic tracks, supported by India’s Line of Credit.
Among the athletes, Nasrullah Ahmed also participated in the Runtalya Marathon, marking his 95th race. He aims to reach a significant milestone by completing his 100th marathon in the near future.
