Islamic Ministry Begins Accepting Fitr Zakat in Staples

The Islamic Ministry has announced the commencement of accepting Fitr Zakat in staples, effective from yesterday.

According to the Ministry, individuals can contribute their Fitr Zakat in staples at the Aminiyya School hall, located at Lily Magu gate.

The acceptance of Zakat will be facilitated every day, excluding Fridays and Saturdays, from 13:00 to 16:00, beginning today until April 8. However, on April 9th, the acceptance hours will extend until 18:00.

The staples eligible for Fitr Zakat include normal rice, Thailand white rice, basmati rice, red rice, normal flour, and atta flour.

Notably, a total of MVR 1.5 million has been collected as Fitr Zakat within the initial 10 days of Ramadan.
