Gov’t Condemns Israel’s Airstrike on Humanitarian Convoy, Calls for Accountability
The Government of Maldives has issued a strong condemnation following the recent airstrike by Israel, which tragically struck a World Central Kitchen convoy, resulting in the loss of seven aid workers of various nationalities.
The targeting of aid workers is a “gross violation of international humanitarian law,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday, urging for accountability to be enforced upon those responsible.
The government called upon the international community to take robust measures aimed at ensuring the protection and security of humanitarian workers operating within conflict zones and to facilitate the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Expressing heartfelt condolences, both the Government and citizens of Maldives extend their condolences to World Central Kitchen and the families affected by this devastating incident. The government wished for a swift recovery to those who sustained injuries.
