President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has accused the former administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of omitting numerous individuals from the list of flat recipients initially established by his predecessor, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration.

One such individual, Mohamed Saleem of Dhafthar 12152, Male’, raised concerns about the possibility of the current administration awarding flats to those who were excluded by Solih’s administration, despite being listed as eligible recipients during Yameen’s tenure.

In response, Muizzu reassured Saleem that his administration would indeed allocate flats to individuals who were overlooked despite their inclusion on the permanent list of eligible recipients established during Yameen’s administration, particularly from the flats developed under its initial social housing project.

Furthermore, Muizzu disclosed plans to issue flats from developments in Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu, and Giraavarufalhu to rectify the situation for these individuals.

During Yameen’s administration, the permanent list of recipients for flats developed under the Hiyaa Housing Project in Hulhumale’ Phase II was made public. However, Solih’s administration later formed a committee to scrutinise the list, alleging unjust distribution of flats. Subsequently, the committee’s revised list of eligible recipients differed from the original.

In addressing the ongoing housing challenges in Male’ City, the current administration has initiated a significant housing project named Ras Male’ at Fushidhiggaru Falhu. This project aims to alleviate the persistent housing constraints faced by residents of the capital.
