The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced that this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr will commence on tomorrow, April 10th, 2024.
This declaration followed a ceremony conducted for moon sighting, during which it was determined that the moon was not sighted in any part of the Maldives last evening. Consequently, Tuesday has been confirmed as the 30th day of Ramadan.
The Maldives government has disclosed plans for festive celebrations in honour of Eid-ul-Fitr. The Local Government Ministry organized a ceremony on Monday evening to illuminate the Greater Male’ region with vibrant festive lights.
According to the ministry, both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Ad’ha prayers are scheduled for 07:00hrs on their respective dates.
Celebrating Eid holidays vibrantly across the nation is a core commitment of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He has affirmed that Islamic practices will be accorded top priority under his administration, and emphasised that the Muslim festive seasons will be celebrated energetically nationwide, contingent upon the capability and preparedness of relevant island and city council bodies and other entities.
