Sports Minister Commemorates Launch of Maldives Pro 2024 Bodyboarding World Tour
Sports, Fitness, and Recreation Minister Abdulla Rafiu graced the launching ceremony of the Maldives Pro 2024 Bodyboarding World Tour, held yesterday.

The grand announcement of this premier international sporting extravaganza unfolded at a ceremony hosted at H. Boalhage, with Minister Rafiu at the helm. Joining him were State Minister Mohamed Riyaz, President of Maldives Bodyboarding Association Hussain Nizam, and General Secretary Hassan Rasheed.
Scheduled to unfold from 1st to 9th August at Varunulaa Raalhugandu, the event promises the participation of the globe’s top bodyboarders. Last year, the Maldives garnered acclaim for successfully hosting world tour events.
In his address, Minister Rafiu underscored the strides made by Maldives in the realm of bodyboarding, accentuating the accomplishments of local athletes in the preceding year’s World Tour. He affirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to furnishing support, fostering an environment conducive to the ascension of bodyboarding talents.
Expressing gratitude, President Nizam of the Bodyboarding Association lauded the government and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. He voiced aspirations for the Maldives to emerge as a breeding ground for towering bodyboarding luminaries.
Rasheed pinpointed challenges encountered in the previous edition, such as high tides and power shortages induced by salt corrosion. Assuring proactive measures, he affirmed the commitment to resolving such issues to ensure a seamless sporting spectacle this year.
