STO Convenes Conference on Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetes, and Cardiac Conditions

STO Medical Services hosted a conference aimed at raising awareness about chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and cardiac conditions among healthcare professionals. 

The event, held in the Maldives, featured discussions on significant developments in treatment options and healthcare strategies.  The conference theme, ‘salt, water, and sugar,’ encompassed comprehensive discussions on cardiovascular, metabolic, and renal health.

A notable highlight of the conference was the announcement regarding the US FDA approval of a medication distributed by STO Medical Services, sourced from AstraZeneca. This medication targets improved glycemic control in children aged 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes, addressing critical needs within this patient demographic.

The gathering attracted over 100 healthcare professionals from across the Maldives, underscoring the community’s commitment to advancing knowledge in managing chronic diseases. Esteemed doctors such as Dr. Mohamed Shiruhan, Dr. Ibrahim Shiham, and Dr. Shaneez Najmy delivered insightful presentations on various aspects of chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and cardiac conditions, including heart failure.

Dr. Sanjay Kalra, Chairperson of the Education Working Group of ISE, contributed expert perspectives on glycemic control in the management of type 2 diabetes, enriching the dialogue with his extensive experience.
