The government has announced plans to establish specific areas for rented vehicle parking in Hulhumalé.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Fazal, the Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), revealed that these designated areas would be located within the interior sections of roads and would also serve as parking for visitors.

Fazal further explained that parking spaces would be available on both a paid and non-paid basis. As part of the broader Hulhumale development plan, 15 parking buildings will be constructed, providing around 4,000 parking slots. These facilities will include permanent parking spaces for vehicles such as cars, with the project expected to commence within the next three months.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to address the issue of irregular parking and road congestion in Hulhumale. In a related development, the Male City Council has decided to implement red lines on street corners to prevent parking in these areas.
